Dark Captive MF Anthology Blog Tour

Everyone has a dark side...

Dark Captive is an exclusive collection of dark erotic romance stories featuring alpha men with fierce sexual appetites. They'll stop at nothing to get what they want. And they have their sights on one woman. Possessive and bold, these heroes give their conquests exactly what they crave—to be taken … to be owned. Any resistance offered will be tested, but in the end love rules.

Kidnapping, abduction, and sexual slavery are just a few of the titillating taboo themes in this hand-picked anthology.

Take Me by Jenika Snow
After her mother passes away, Holly decides to finally have a life away from her abusive father and the darkened, lifeless world she lives in. But someone has been watching her, waiting for the right moment to take her away. It’s when she comes face-to-face with her captor that she realizes he won’t let her go.

Will Holly stay with a man that decrees she’s his, that he’ll do whatever it takes to make her see they belong together? Despite the twisted and dark nature of it all, she feels freedom for the first time in her life. Will she give in, or will she accept what he offers her … her life back?

Excerpt:

“You had no right to take me away.”
“You were running,” he said without apology. “I didn’t take you away from anything.” He stood and walked over to the kitchen, opened the freezer, and grabbed a bottle of alcohol out. He took two glasses next and came back to the table. Nothing was said as he poured clear liquid into those glasses. He pushed one to her, took the other for himself, and while looking at her, tossed it back, drinking it in one swallow.
She looked down at the alcohol, and without thinking, because this was so fucked up, she grabbed the glass and drank it, as well. It burned going down, and made her already teary eyes water even more, but she welcomed the flash of heat it caused in her veins.
“I may have been running, but you had no right to take me, to think you knew what I wanted.” She was the one to hold her ground now. “You took me to satisfy things on your end.”
Where is this strength coming from? He’s dangerous. Just look at him, and you can see it.
She saw the way his jaw clenched, the tightness of his body, and knew she might have crossed the line with her words. Holly knew nothing about him, or what he was capable of.
He’s capable of stalking me, of taking me away. He’s capable of hurting people and clearly having no remorse. I have no doubts he would have no trouble killing someone that crossed his path.
“Watch it, Holly.” His voice had gone cold, steely.
She swallowed, a shiver working its way throughout her whole body. She wanted to say “or what,” but kept her mouth shut, being smart.
“Or I might throw you over my knee and spank that pretty ass until it’s purple and your pussy is wet.”
She felt her mouth go slack at his words. But the most surprising, if not traitorous thing her body did, was react to his words by heating, her pussy becoming wet, and her nipples hardening.
“You’re insane,” she said and stood. She glanced around the room, but didn’t know if she was running from him or what she felt. She turned and saw the front door, ran toward it, but realized it had some state of the art lock on it that was activated by fingerprints. He had his hands on her waist only seconds later, the hold unforgiving. There was a little bit of pain associated with his touch, but she found it arousing.
She hated that fact, loathed herself for getting turned on by this man when she should be screaming.
“You can scream, but no one can hear you, Holly.” He let those words sink in before continuing. She heard him inhale right by her hair, and she found herself closing her eyes.
She was still breathing hard, but the need to pass out had subsided. He turned her around but kept his body pressed right up against hers. The feel of his erection against her belly was clear, and her fear heightened that he may rape her.

The Joys (and Pains) of Pets

You don't really need to see that screen in front of you.

Having a pet is a wonderful thing. They don't care if you've put on extra weight or complain that the dishes aren't done or bitch at you for getting the wrong type of cereal. As long as you feed them and take care of their poop, they'll love you unconditionally.

I prefer my pets cuddly. We tried fish once but that was a disaster (other than providing inspiration for my first book). Give me a dog or cat any day. I love it when the cat curls up on my lap or the dog jumps up on me the second I get home.

Pets become a member of your family. We recently lost our cat because the poor thing's heart got too big and a blood clot went to his brain. It wasn't an easy time because it was sudden and because we loved him. Mourning for a pet can be almost as bad as for a person.

But we are a family that needs pets, and so when a cousin told me her cat had had kittens, it was inevitable that we'd bring one home. Our new kitten is adorable and I love her but man is she a pain in the ass!

As I write this, I have to stop every few words to remove her from my head or my chest because she's climbing all over me. For a while this morning the dog had her cornered between a chair and the entertainment centre and it was a nice break. I actually got some work done.

The kitten also finds the laptop fascinating.

First, she wanted to chase my fingers while I typed. Then she insisted on walking all over it. Finally, she just plunked herself down on it and went to sleep.

Sigh.

At the moment, I am having a brief reprieve because I realized her food dish was empty. That's tough because we have to put the dish up when the dog is out or she'll eat the cat food (the old cat got revenge by eating the dog food while staring defiantly at the dog in the crate) but then we forget to put it down again. Silly humans.

In spite of the problems she's causing me, I still find it adorable when she sits on my shoulder and purrs in my ear. And her little kitty eyes melt my heart every time.

Do your pets have any particularly annoying habits? What adorable features keep you from dropping them off in the country? I'd love to hear about it!

Meanwhile, In the Wilds of Ontario...

This blog post is brought to you from the wilds of northern Ontario. No, not really. Thank God for scheduling blog posts!

As this post goes live, I will be with hubby and the family visiting friends at their cottage. There is no internet, wi-fi, or even electricity. I'll let you know if I survive.

Ever tried to unplug for a while? I hate not having a device in my hands, even if I'm only playing a game or reading. I don't have to be online, but the thought of no power is freaky. It's been a long time since I've been camping and the site is remote enough that there aren't any towns nearby. What the heck did people do with their time back in the old days?

I suspect there will be hiking and swimming and campfires galore. I pray to successfully avoid poison ivy or any other sort of plant that will make me itch though I'm pretty sure I will be a smorgasbord for the mosquitoes.

But maybe I'll be able to find some quiet time to just reflect and be inspired. I don't need electricity to write in a notebook. And it will be nice to have some time with the family where we're not all glued to a screen of some kind.

If I'm completely honest though? The thing I'm most looking foward to is coming home! Catch you next week!
